TOH Bunny Review – Siswan Jungle Lodge (Chandigarh)

Chandigarh - "The City Beautiful"
On my recent visit to ‘The City Beautiful – Chandigarh’ I decided to do the Tarzan bit and landed at  the ‘Siswan Jungle Lodge’, located some 20km from Chandigarh on the alternate route to ‘Baddi’, through the sylvan surroundings, dense foliage, little population, and a serpentine road.

‘Siswan Jungle Lodge’ is the perfect vacation rental with 8 rooms (6 super deluxe and 2 deluxe). The property is situated on the edge of a large reserve forest, overlooks Kasauli hills and is very well tended. It offers spacious accommodations in an idyllic location by the woods, with well appointed rooms, clean bathrooms, comfortable cozy beds and best of all a number of sit outs (both indoors and outdoors) for that quality interaction with your vacation partners – Friends, relatives or colleagues. Located on 2 floors. The property comes equipped with all the conference gazatterie like LCD projectors, audio systems, white board, flip charts along with professionals handling of your motivation and training sessions.

“Siswan Jungle Lodge’ is clearly a product of love and comes complete with a library, children activity room, indoor games including Table Tennis, American Pool and opportunity to go Macho with Pistol Shooting or mountain bikes. The dining space called ‘The Jungle Café, with its airy ambience and open views, offers exquisite Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisine and doubles up as a formal dining space along with the possibility to use it as a meeting room for a little corporate off-site. The property offers other little touches of class like a beautiful grandfather chronometer or that beautiful antique vase that one may well remember long after the vacation has ended.

The well tended lawns provide the necessary space to kids to frolic and the jungle tracks offer an opportunity to the adults to exercise their limbs and treat their eyes to multitudinous hues of green. The forest around the property is abundantly rich in wildlife and the recently created water reservoir by the ‘Siswan Dam’ offers the opportunity to view a wide variety of birds safely perched on tree trunks standing in the shallow reservoir with a passing road a little height providing the perfect view of the birds frolicking in the water, feeding, cavorting or simply drying their wings like the ever careful ‘Cormorant’.

‘Siswan Jungle Lodge’, though only across the proverbial grove from the bustle of Chandigarh is yet a world away in its ambience and chracterises itself by an air of tranquility and repose that allows opening of the inner eye – that is the bliss of solitude (Thank You Mr Wordsworth). You feel here a desire to explore, share and belong. Therefore, a special tip- Do plan to visit it with the special people in your life to share more, to grow more, to live more – Together in the lap of nature and in the comfort of your other home.

The staff at Siswan is friendly and hospitable without being obtrusive. Largely comprising of local lads familiar with the local lore, they are happy to talk and share stories from here and there, should you feel like it. The location permits the possibility of a brief hop to Chandigarh, but you may really want to catch that on your way in or out. A visit to the nearby villages however offers the possibility to pick up fresh farm produce, get some good photo ops and possibly a picnic in a shadowy opening in the forest.
I get invited by the property owner to come stay with them. I explore their world and share my experiences with all of you. To send an invitation, write to me at bunny@theotherhome.com .
