The word ‘India’ echoes a rainbow of feelings and expressions in both my mind and heart. My heart is filled with patriotism and pride when i hear my country’s name. Just then it reflected in my mind that i have too much to boast being an Indian. Or rather too many things to be proud of my country. Starting from the landscape and the geography to each and every single monument that was created in this nation.
The Himalayas that crown my country to the greenery of Kerala, the cultural diversity and heritage , the sacred ethnicity and rituals of various tribes, the culinary legacy of various states… I could just go on and on because that is what India is all about. India is about everything that stimulates the human heart and mind. India is about mysteries and undiscovered life-changing truths on one end and technological marvels at the other end. India is both about science and religion at the same time. The country is about spiritually mystifying and de-mystifying you at the same time.
To be honest, everything about my country excites me. If you are a nature lover, it is ideal to make your way through the hill stations of Nanital, Shimla, Mussorie, Darjeeling in the north . Each and every valley and the area surrounding it has a story to tell. A visit to the Himalayas can tranform your inner essence for the better. In the South, Ooty, Kodaikanal and Kerala serves a treat for the nature lover. The sweetness of the mist and the purity of the nature along with the unblemished greenery everywhere can give you the perfect holiday you have dreamt of .
If you are the sort who feels like a trip to a historical place or a museum would make your day, then you have plenty of options here. There is the Taj Mahal in Agra portraying the story of eternal love, the Ajanta and Ellora Caves in Maharashtra, the Qutab Minar and the Red Fort in Delhi, the Ashoka Pillar at Sanchi and various other historical monuments that treasures the yesteryears.
If your idea of a holiday is sitting by the beach feeling the warmth of the sun and the chill of the sea breeze, then there are numerous beaches in the country. The Marina beach in Chennai, the Juhu beach in Mumbai, the Kovalam beach in Trivandrum are a few of the pristine beaches that can give you an ideal beach holiday.
If you like being part of the celebrations, India is one country where the fun never ends. There are festivals and occasions throughout the year. You could choose between a Diwali bash with crackers and lights or a snake boat race where people synchronize rhythm and body balance to succeed in the race. There is the Baisakhi or the festival of spring that colors the country or the Dussehra that celebrates the triumph of good over evil.
One of my favorite things about India is the culinary variety the country offers. From steamy rice cakes in the south to spicy paneer masalas in the North, the country offers a variety of choices in food. From exotic fish curries to mouth-watering desserts, you could totally lose count of the number of dishes that are made in each and every region.
