Orissa, now called as Odisha is located on the east coast of India, by the Bay of Bengal. It is the modern name of the ancient nation of Kalinga, which was invaded by the Maurya Emperor Ashoka in 261 BC.
Orissa has several popular tourist destinations, most popular among them being Puri, Konark & Bhubaneswar, which together are also known as Golden Triangle of eastern India. Travellers from all over India and World visit these three destinations all throughout the year. Moreover, every year during the period of Rath Yatra, the Golden Triangle is visited by huge number of religious travellers.
I travelled to Orissa as a student with a group of friends and visited Puri, Konark, Chillika and Bhuvaneshwar. It was a lovely experience visiting all these places, each unique in its own way.
