Chandigarh a beautiful place which was shaped and planned by the French architect Le Corbusier was the first planned city in India. This city has got a nice punch line to its credit “Le Corbusier” and probably it is justified. It serves as capital of two states namely Punjab and Haryana and the Union territory of Chandigarh itself.
The city picturesque is apparently enhanced by its utilization of land, no corner is left untouched it is just amazing.
Places to be visited in Chandigarh
Leisure valley
As the name suggests a place where one likes to spend some time, to relax or connect him to nature. This valley is like a garland of gardens that beautifies the entire city; it starts from Rajendra Park in Sector 1 till the Bougainvillea garden in Sector 3. It also covers the splendid garden of roses in Sector 16. There is a uniqueness i. e. the concept of theme parks which was firstly introduced in the leisure valley of Chandigarh.
Rock garden
It shows the epitome of creativity and innovation created by NEK CHAND. It is a unique garden that consists of various art objects made by using industrial & urban waste. It is located in Sector 1 between the Capitol Complex and Sukhna Lake. The garden houses sculptures made by using a variety of different discarded waste materials like frames, mudguards, forks, handle bars, metal wires, play marbles, porcelain, auto parts, broken bangles etc. The garden portrays how creative is human mind it just an awesome places to be seen.
Sukhna Lake
Sukhna Lake is a beautiful lake that lies in the foothills of Shivalik range. The unique thing about Sukhna is that it is manmade lake. It serves as a great picnic spot and an apt place for pursuing water sport activities like boating, yachting and water skiing etc. The atmosphere over here is very serene and thus apt for meditating, beautiful scenery just add an extra edge. The migratory birds and swan are common to be cited, it has also provided scope to professional artist to earn their livelihood. It lends a touch of Paris to the city with the scene reminiscent of the quays along the Seine where artists work at leisure and offer their works for sale.
Rose garden
Rose Garden is the largest of its kind in Asia named after India’s former President Zakir Hussain. It is a spacious garden covering an area of 27 acres. Dr. Zakir rose garden not just consists of the gorgeous roses, but also trees of medicinal value. A Buddhist monastery is situated inside the garden. It acts as a venue for hosting the annual festival of gardens, a major cultural event of the city.
Capitol complex
Capitol Complex houses the seat of Government for Punjab and Haryana. The credit for the awesome designing of the Capitol complex goes to Le Corbusier. Capitol complex consists of three main edifices, namely, the Secretariat, the Legislative Assembly and the High Court. The three buildings of the Capitol complex stand majestically representing themselves as the temples of democracy of free India.
CHANDIGARH an awesome place which provided me an urge to admire it if every city is as planned as this very land thanks to the creator Le Corbusier.
