ITB is the world’s leading Travel Trade Show, held in Berlin in 2012, with participation from 180 countries and more than 170,000 visitors from all segments of travel industry. It is a key international B2B-Platform for trade visitors – an excellent opportunity to meet business partners and do business.
Union tourism Minister Shri Subodh Kant Sahai inaugurated the India Pavilion at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB), in Berlin. The pavilion showcased a wide array of India’s tourism products and destinations at ITB. The main focus of the Indian pavilion was to promote the country as a year-round destination among global inbound source markets. The Delhi government had a major presence in the Indian pavilion, and was one of the most attractive stalls at the pavilion.
The Other Home participated at ITB Berlin as part of the Indian pavilion and represented Delhi Bed & Breakfast (B&B) Owners Association to promote the ‘Delhi Bed and Breakfast scheme‘. The Delhi government tourism has launched Bed and Breakfast scheme to boost travel and tourism in New Delhi. The scheme classifies fully operational rooms of home stay facilities as “Incredible India Bed & Breakfast (B&B) Establishment”. The scheme is inspired by the noble concept of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava‘, which means the guest is like god, in Sanskrit. The basic idea behind the launch of Bed and Breakfast scheme is to provide a clean and affordable accommodation for foreign and domestic tourists. It also includes the idea to provide an opportunity to the foreign travellers to stay with an Indian family and experience warmth and hospitality of India, get a feel of Indian customs and traditions and relish authentic Indian cuisine. Presently, there are more than 400 registered B&B properties in Delhi, spread all over different part of the city.
It was a unique initiative from The Other Home to promote B&B in Delhi and we received an enthusiastic response at the trade meet. We received large number of queries from interested business partners from all parts of the globe. Also, some strategic tie-ups were discussed with key European travel industry companies.
