India – A Country to Visit in your Lifetime

India is an ancient land whose history dates back to about 6000-7000 BC. It is a civilization which worships nature and every facet of the human life. Its family system and the belief in the oneness of God differs it from other great countries of the world. Its strength lies in its diversity and has always been a mysterious place for people to discover. In India people, cultures, cuisines and landscapes change every hundred kilometers.
Landscape:

India’s landscapes differ from region to region. The northern part of the country is characterized by The Great Himalaya and the fertile lands of the Ganges. Its eastern region is rich with dense forests and river deltas; and the eastern most regions the North-East is hilly with some beautiful tourist destinations likeShillong, Sikkim etc. In the southern region the landscape changes to the beautiful beaches in coastal regions to the backwaters of Kerala and finally the west which is dry and dusty.
Climate:
India’s climatic conditions differ according to regions and terrain; it has typically four types of climate-Arid, Tropical, Sub-tropical and Alpine. Summers in India are hot; the temperature ranges between 32 to 45 degrees. India Experiences monsoon or the rainy season from June to September and winters from November onwards lasting till February with December-January being the coldest months when temperatures drop down to 10-15 degrees in north India. Therefore, best months to travel are April-September for North India and September-December for southern India.
People, Life & Economy:

People of India and their lifestyles are very wide ranging. They are very friendly in nature and believe very ardently in their traditions, values, customs and their family system. There are four major religions in India namely Hinduism, Islamism, Christianity and the Buddhism. It is one of the most religiously diverse countries of the world with the freedom of expressing any religion. The culture of India is enriched by its various dance forms like Bharatnatyam and the singing Gharanas of the north. Various festivals are celebrated in India with the view of bringing together families and communities some of them are Durga Puja, Id and Diwali etc. And fairs like the Pushkar melaKumbh mela and others are held all over India from time to time.
India is rapidly making strides to become a global economic superpower; it is the second fastest growing economy in the world and the tenth largest. The people of India are very optimistic of leading a good economic life with the youth of the nation being its primary driving force.
Myths about India:
  • India is a country: Frankly India is not a country but more like a continent in itself since from the time of the British raj it was a collection of princely states.
  • Travelling in India is Dangerous: certainly not, all you need to do is take adequate safety measure no place on earth is totally safe same goes for India but that doesn’t mean it will hamper your travelling.
  • India is Poor: In the past two decades India has experienced rapid growth which has increased the incomes of the people; poverty level in the country has come down significantly.

Besides the world renowned ancient and historical sites like Sarnath, Taj Mahal and Red Fort to name a few,there are a few destinations which are less explored such as The Roopkund lake know also as ‘The Skeleton Lake’, which is one of the spookiest places in India, The Great Himalayan range is known for its Flora and Fauna, one such example of it is the ‘Valley of Flowers’ National park. The little Rann of Kutchin Gujrat is a place which holds infinite beauty in its surface.

Indian is renowned world over for its cuisines. The staple food of Indian cuisines includes lentils, flour, rice, pearl millet and some pulses. Commonly, Indian food is spicy and rich in texture. Each region has its special preference like the people in the south are fond of Idli, Dosa and other coconut and rice based food. In the north you have vegetarian dominated cuisines like rotirajma chawalchole etc. in the west also you have vegetarian food and the east and the coastal regions eat fish and sea-food dominated meals. In the Non-vegetarian meals you have Biryanisbutter chickens etc.
