Arunachal Pradesh – The Land of the Rising Sun

India is a Country built up of 28 states & 7 union territories. Each state being extremely beautiful and rich in its diversity contributes to identify the nation, Arunachal Pradesh being one of them. Arunachal Pradesh is located in the north eastern side of India bordering the nation with three international countries and two nation states. It is known as ‘the land of rising sun’prosaically meant for the ‘land of the dawn lit mountains’.

The total area of the state which is of around 83,473 sq. km is the biggest state in the north east of India and yet is a sparsly populated one. The state is known for its varying temperature and climates of its different altitudes. The northern part of the state mostly is covered by the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas, The expanse below the mountains are known for its temperate climate and the lower most regions of the state experiences humid summers and balmy minters.

The state consists of 17 districts, each one varying the other by its language, tradition and culture. The state is famous for comprising many groups of tribes and sub-tribes as such as 20-28 of them. Some of these are Adis, Monpa, Nyishi , Apatani, Jagin, Mishmi etc. Each dam has and follows their own tradition and cultures. They vary from festivals to folk dames and stories too.

Losar Festival
Losar is one of the most commonly doing and famous festival of Monpas.
The festivals are celebrated through out of the year as different groups of tribal’s follow different rituals and parities. These festivals are mostly related to ceremonial and agricultural procedures. They pray for the good harvests in those reasons. Dames are performed during these ceremonies and each conveys a message and prayers in it. They are done wearing colorful costumes and jewelries and these costumes again differ from one another. Some of the important festivals are Mopin, Dree, Losar, Somng, Reh etc. Festivals like these are celebrated with the great pompons of joys and laughter.

This state is also known for its spectacular beauty surrounded by those snow-capped mountains, busy rivers bickering down them to the plain valleys. Waterfalls and the rich diversity of flora fauna also contribute to the besotted allure of the state. It is known that Arunachal has 600 species of orchids to be found in its regions, 500 species of medicinal plants and around another 500 varieties of birds and animals are also found, out of which others are known to be rare and endangered. These are a total number of 7 wildlife sanctuaries and 4 national parks in this state.

There are many places worth misting and some of these include the Tawang monastery which lies in Tawang district. It is the largest monastery in India and 2nd largest in Asia which houses about 700 monks in it. The monastery was founded in the year 1860-61 AD and is a precious preserved heritage considered to be one of the greatest construction ever created by mankind. Beautiful apple and kiwi orchards are also famously found in the region of Bomdila. They also offer you a range of sports like trekking, hiking, water rafting and many others!

Arunachal Pradesh is also known famous for its craft productions. Rich in Bamboo and came produce, locals are known for their artistic skills in making baskets, mats, smoking pipes, Dolls out of them. An immense amount of energy and craftsmanship are required to achieve those artistic vocations. Traditional attires which are usually hand-woven and unique and distinctive jewellery beads are also highly appreciated for their unusual designs.
English is the official language of the state as there are many tribes and not all of them understand each other’s dialects. Horn Bill, Mithun and Ioxtail orchid are its state bird, animal and flower respectively. Since all of the above are of rare kinds, it is one land worth a visit, which will surely wonder-strike each personal holding their breath by its scenic beauty.
