The southern part of India is associated with magnificent temples and is popular for its religious heritage. Much of the rich heritage of South India its fascinating history which covers a span of over four thousand years during which the region saw the rise and fall of a number of dynasties and empires.
The period of known history of the region begins in the 1200 BC during which Chera, Chola, Pandya ruled the South Indian country until 14th century AD. Other dynasties of Satavahana, Chalukya, Pallava,Rashtrakuta, Kakatiya and Hoysala were at their peak during various periods of history. The various empires and dynasties built a majestic array of temples, palaces and ancient cities, which remain in present times as a testimony to their magnificent vision.
The magnificent temples, palaces coupled with the wonderful coastal landscape makes for one of a kind spiritual journey through 2 states (Kerala & Tamil Nadu) and 1 union territory (Pondicherry) of south India.
The winters are a perfect time to embark on the southern spiritual odyssey and we took this opportunity to take a much needed break to undertake this trip.
